When we started tasting old Zins from the cave to determine which were worthy of the Member's Cellar, the 2003 wasn't really even on our radar. There wasn't much of it down there, we hadn't tasted it in probably ten years, and the 2004 was the one we'd had customers inquire about over the years. But this 2003 was the one that WOW-ed us more than any other. Spicy, peppery, plenty of fruit and structure left with that still-shining-bright Howell Mountain acidity on the finish... classic Black Sears, and perhaps Ted Lemon's best Zinfandel vintage from his tenure as winemaker here.
