The 2015 Black Sears Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is rich, black-fruit driven, and shows a wonderful aromatic tension, balanced palate, and vivid finish. This is very much a high-elevation wine - rugged and true to its mountaintop origins, and forged by the stress of four years of drought. The nose resonates with aromas of baking spices, warm cedar mulch, coffee, and cocoa. On the palate, this Cabernet delivers black fruit and the classic Howell Mountain notes of charred meat, bramble, cranberry compote, and crushed rock. All with an uplifting, dried-herb finish that is both bright and earthy, and leaves a deep, structured impression.
